Transporting Classic & Prestige Vehicles â an Overview

Opting to use a covered car transporter trailer offers a number of benefits. By keeping the car concealed it is easier to ensure that it is protected from exposure to road dirt and weather conditions such as rain and frost. An enclosed trailer also gives added protection from possible damage caused by trees and branches or from an accidental collision. With covered vehicle transporters the car is kept out of view of thieves and vandals and so the vehicle is more secure.
As well as the type of trailer used the main factor in determining the cost of transporting the classic car is the distance involved. Some car transporters will charge by the mile with higher premiums being set for international transport.  The competitive nature of the marketplace means that customers can expect a high standard of service. Classic car transport companies will typically offer flexibility in pick-up and delivery time to suit the needs of the customer. Additionally customers will have access to up to the minute updates on the status of their vehicle.

Transporting your car these days can be quite a challenging task for inexperienced drivers. Driving the car yourself over very long distances is a bother for most, drivers mostly preferring hiring an experienced driver or transportation company to get their cars to the destination quickly, on-time and without any incidents.
If you choose to have your car transported, it is of vital importance to choose only the best transportation company out there. In this article we will cover the most commonly used methods used in vehicle transport and also we’ll go over some tips about preparing your car before transportation.
Hiring a transportation company can be a great way of getting your car moved around. They will generally pick-up your car using various methods and drop it at the destination point. The most common methods of transporting vehicles are: open trailers, enclosed trailers and self transport. Australia especially has seen much development recently in the industry of car transportation.
The open trailers method is the least expensive but also the riskiest one. Usually 8 to 10 cars get shipped at the same time stopping at various destinations. Since the trailers are open, a risk is present for your car getting damaged by various elements making this method a bit unsafe. Also, because of the trailers’ big weight, they can travel only on roads designed to support that weight. Also the driving experience is limited, since the driver can’t take any sharp turns because of the length of the trailer. This requires a professional driver with much experience in driving such trailers.
A safer yet more expensive method is the enclosed trailers method which is similar to the open trailers method, the only difference being that the trailers are all enclosed. It is a great way of transporting expensive cars which you don’t want getting scratched or damaged by taking the open trailers method. This method is one of the safest and most used methods of car transportation.
The self transport method is a different from the other to, since you are going to drive the trailer yourself. In other words, you are hiring a trailer from a shipping company and drive it to the destination. This method is great for people with experience in driving heavy haulage. If you don’t have any experience whatsoever it is better to just hire a professional to drive it for you, or just let the company handle everything.
After you’ve made your decision on the company and the method that is going to be used in transporting your car, you have to prepare your car well before transporting it.
You want your car very clean, no matter if you’re transporting it using open or closed trailers. You want to remove any personal items from the car, or any other items which might get damaged during the transportation since most insurance policies don’t cover the damage of any personal items. It is recommended to empty your gas tank to the minimum necessary, in order to remove some weight. Also if you have specific alarms such as anti-theft alarms, it is better to just turn them off since they might enable themselves during the transportation.
All accessories and optional features such as spoilers, fog lights, et cetera would be better off removed. Fold the mirrors back and check that all the car equipment such as the tires or the engine is working swiftly. You also want to make sure your battery is well charged. Notify the company about all existing damages to the car. You can also take photos of the car in case you’ll need them as proof for your insurance.
As a conclusion, getting your car transported to different places can be hard, but choosing the right company and method for transporting your car and also being well prepared should avoid most common accidents happening every day.

Gaining increasing popularity in recent years have been car transporting companies. While the United States is in the middle of an economic recession (and what some may deem to be a âdepression’), the number of people who have been seeking out professional car movers has steadily been on the rise.

For some weary travelers, the thought of having to sit in their personal vehicle and battle heavy traffic due to construction, inclement weather or otherwise is simply no longer worth the hassle. Truth be told, as it turns out, more people are beginning to realize that the amount of money that they spend when traveling via their personal vehicles is far more than they would have guessed. Not only this, but for those who are taking advantage of having their vehicle shipped, they are realizing that the cost to do so is actually less.

So, how does shipping your personal vehicle factor into your overall expenses? First take into consideration the amount of money that you spend on your average road trip. For example, driving from North Carolina to Florida (depending on where in Florida you are heading) can take up to twelve hours. That’s twelve hours of driving, fueling up with gasoline, stopping for food and possibly staying at a hotel for one night along the way. It doesn’t factor in other possible expenses such as unexpected roadside emergencies (i.e. Flat tires, dead battery, etc.).

Perhaps most important to travelers this holiday season is the fact that driving long distances in their personal vehicles puts a lot of wear and tear on their car..wear and tear that may be wholly unnecessary in the first place!

Having the number of a car transport company in your phone or at least written down in your number book can be a huge advantage for a car enthusiast. Maybe you collect a certain type of car. Say that you just bought two the day before, but you have a business meeting that you absolutely can’t miss. At the same time, the car has to be out of the lot by six pm or else you just paid quite a few pounds for nothing.
Obviously, you don’t have many choices. Sure, you could call your friends and have them go get the car, but they have jobs to do as well and probably wouldn’t be able to make it either. So, you can either lose your cars, call your friends, OR…
You can call a car transport company. These companies are one of the quickest, most effective means of getting your car where it needs to go, safely. It doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and it’s well worth it for the safe transport of your cars.
First of all, most car transport companies transport your car and charge by the Mile. If they charge by the trip, something is wrong. Why? Well, for one, fuel costs money. Not only does the fuel cost money but so does the maintenance of their vehicles. It shouldn’t be outrageously priced either—but it will increase significantly as your distance does.
Also keep in mind that you don’t have to have a car to call a car transporter—they include trucks and vans and motorbikes too! It’s not just a car thing—it’s a vehicle thing.
If you need to transport a collectable, transport a broken down car to a garage, or scrap an old car that doesn’t need to be on the road any longer, then these companies have it covered. They do not impound your cars. That’s not their job. All that they do is make sure your car gets from point a to point b without going off track.
If you need frequent car transportation, they also offer reduced rates. This saves you money and hassle.
In the case that you have a car that has broken down, you can also call them to come take your car the nearest garage or home, if you are more mechanically inclined. You will have to get a taxi or a rental car, but on the plus side, they usually get to your location in less than an hour. If you’re on your way to work, you can easily tell your boss that you were just going to be late as opposed to having to explain why you missed a day of work or will have to miss a day of work. You might need to call a taxi service a little bit ahead of time, but as long as you time it right, you should be on your way as soon as possible.
